Kurt Halsey bat pattern

This was the gift I gave my husband to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. The castle design is taken from a picture of the top towers of Carcassonne Castle, FR which we attended on our honeymoon.
The green ribbon (mostly unseen) around the outside edge is left over from what we used for the hand-fasting part of our ceremony.

We both just like bats, and his favourite colour is green. Mine's pink, but I thought it was too much and dulled it down to purples instead.

The original idea was to embroider him a handkerchief for his coat pocket for the wedding but the design was too complex to do small enough for a handkerchief corner. So I made it something he can hang at home or take to work or whatever. His desk is covered with toys anyhow, I thought maybe it wouldn't be too sappy to hide it among the other dorky stuff
Anyhow, he loved it, I think, so that's nice.


This was my first attempt at embroidery other than counted cross stitch. I think I'll do more.
